The House Of Kaymakamlar

It is thougt that the house was built at the begining of the 19th century. The owner is Hacı Mehmet Efendi master of Safranbolu barracks. He was known as Kaim-Makam. It means Lieutenant colonel. So their house is has protected its urban textures and architectural properties

The ministry of Culture and Tourism prepared a Project to protect and restore the historical houses of Safranbolu so the house was nationalized in 1979. And the house was opened as an education center on 16.12.1981. Today it is decorated as a museum house. The Mansion has got two parts called Harem ( for women ) and selamlık ( form an ). The wooden decoration of its ceilings are worth seeing. The building is located on the slope of Hıdırlık. The structure, plan, texture of the house reflects Traditional Turkish Housing.
